3 girls families: the sparks family

Posted on February 7, 2012 by Jen Basford

we are head over heels in love with this family. and i’m sure you can see why just by the images alone.

but that’s not all. geoff is one incredible orthodontist over at orthodontic associates, and brandi has to be one of the most genuinely warm people i’ve ever met. and jovie? don’t even get us started… we’ve been trying to adopt her as our official ‘studio baby’ so that our ‘studio puppy‘ peace will have someone to play with every day. she’s super incredibly ADORABLE.

fashion anyone? one of my favorite ways for families to dress for portraits is to COORDINATE, just like the sparks have done. MATCHING in family portraits can create a very dated look (i.e. all solid black shirts), and can sometimes instill limitations on the creative elements within the session. effectively coordinating can be done by choosing a palette of colors to work with. my favorites are blues (which looks good on any skin tone) and earth tones (which are perfect for year round art in your home), but we also love to play with bright, bold color as well (which creates a very playful and fun look). and don’t shy away from patterns – tying in a bold pattern with an outfit creates interest and harmony.

we photograph families quite a lot in studio, but my favorite place for families is on location. especially at their homes! this gives a very unique look to the portraits, and also creates a deeper value for the wall portraits we create as it centers around your core lifestyle.

be sure to give us a call today to schedule your family portraits at 3 girls photography. we’ll schedule a complimentary portrait consultation to discuss the location, the look, your personalities, and clothing. 405.341.4170.
